![]() What are Fascias and Soffits?
When your house is built, the timbers for the roof overhang the walls to ensure that the rain runs off and away from the building. You don't see these timbers though as they are covered by fascia boards, the boards or UPVC covering that hide the edge of the rafters and have the guttering attached to. The resulting exposed gap between the fascia and the wall is then covered over using Soffits. Therefore once these have been attached, as shown above, then you never see the somewhat unsightly roof timbers, or rafters, again. They also work alongside the guttering to help protect your home from water getting in and causing moisture build up and ultimately mould and ceiling collapse due to sodden plaster boards. Therefore it is just as important to keep these elements of your property clean and maintained as it is the gutters and windows. If cleared and maintained regularly they will work in unison with your channelled ducts to help protect the building from any trapping and build of moisture in the brickwork or ceiling space. In addition to the fascias and soffits, Tunbridge Wells window cleaners will happily keep your barge boards, these are the boards at the gable end of your property to give them additional strength and also protection from the elements. |
